Emily's Birthday: March 19, 2004

Emily's birthday is March 17, but we celebrated on March 19 by going to a restaurant in North Beach (San Francisco) and then checking out a nearby club. We got to the club between 10 and 11 p.m. and apparently the club scene doesn't really get going until 1 a.m., so we had the place to ourselves.

1. Erica, the woman in blue, and Caryn confer before ordering.

2. Emily is now 27.

3. Emily's cousin Julie and her boyfriend Matt.

4. Kim and Emily go way back.

5. This time, Kim and Emily look into the camera!

6. Try again - now we have Kim and Emily looking slightly less posed. Well, of course, it's a pose, but more acceptable results.

7. Marianne (moi) and Emily - I have to say, I seem to have a persistent double chin in all photographs taken of me these days ... need to fix that ...

8. The restaurant people bring out a tiramisu for Emily, and sing Happy Birthday.

9. The restaurant staff singing their hearts out.

10. Emily contemplates the tiramisu.

11. Emily blows out the candle.

12. The girls in the club: Emily, Caryn, and Kim. We were the only ones in the club outide of the DJ and bartender!
